Panchang: Your Daily Guide to Auspicious Timing

RityogiApril 10, 20262 मिनट पढ़ें

Panchang (Pancha + Anga = Five Limbs) is the Vedic calendar system that tracks five astronomical elements daily. It has been used for thousands of years to determine auspicious and inauspicious times.

The Five Elements

1. Vara (Day)

The seven days of the week, each ruled by a planet:

  • Ravivara (Sunday) — Sun
  • Somavara (Monday) — Moon
  • Mangalavara (Tuesday) — Mars
  • Budhavara (Wednesday) — Mercury
  • Guruvara (Thursday) — Jupiter
  • Shukravara (Friday) — Venus
  • Shanivara (Saturday) — Saturn

2. Tithi (Lunar Day)

30 tithis in each lunar month (15 in Shukla Paksha, 15 in Krishna Paksha). Each tithi is governed by a deity and has specific auspiciousness.

3. Nakshatra (Lunar Mansion)

The Moon's position in one of 27 Nakshatras. Determines the overall energy of the day.

4. Yoga (Sun-Moon Combination)

27 yogas formed by the combined longitude of Sun and Moon. Each yoga has specific qualities.

5. Karana (Half-Tithi)

11 karanas that repeat in a cycle. Important for muhurta (auspicious timing) selection.

Daily Timing

Rahu Kaal

A 1.5-hour inauspicious period each day when Rahu's energy is strong. Avoid starting new ventures during Rahu Kaal.

Abhijit Muhurta

The most auspicious 48-minute window around midday. Ideal for important beginnings.

Brahma Muhurta

96 minutes before sunrise. Best time for meditation, study, and spiritual practice.

How to Use the Panchang

1. Check the Nakshatra before scheduling important events

2. Avoid Rahu Kaal for new beginnings

3. Use Abhijit Muhurta for auspicious starts

4. Consider Tithi for religious observances
