Planetary events · Rahu and Ketu
Rahu stands for ambition, the new and the foreign, and Ketu for detachment, the inner life and letting go. Here is every Rahu and Ketu sign change of 2026 and 2027 in the sidereal zodiac used in Vedic astrology, with exact times in IST.
All times are Indian Standard Time (IST).
Rahu and Ketu are the two points where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's. They are always exactly opposite each other and always move backward through the zodiac, which is why they are always called vakri. They change sign together about every 18 months: when Rahu enters a sign, Ketu enters the sign opposite. This site uses the mean node, the traditional choice; a true-node almanac can list a date some days apart.
On 1 January 2026, Rahu is in Aquarius and Ketu in Leo.

Gochar is read from your Moon sign: the table below shows the houses from your Moon sign that Rahu and Ketu pass through. The pair always falls across two opposite houses, so a Rahu-Ketu change shifts attention between two areas of life at once. What it brings depends on your chart and your dasha.

Every date and time here is worked out the way Indian panchangs give planetary events: the Lahiri ayanamsa on the sidereal zodiac, applied to the apparent position of each planet, the place it is seen in the sky. A station (the moment a planet turns vakri or margi) is timed from its apparent motion. Times are Indian Standard Time, rounded to the minute.
